Some time ago there was a discussion on radar mounting, we went with a
mast mount and PYI gimbaled mount Its pretty slick, only problem (6
months later) is that mooring at home on the lake there is always wake
and wave action. I was taking the boat out through the locks and under
5 bridges prior to leaving this Friday and use the time transiting to
better learn the radar and chart plotter features. Radar didn't work,
stopped at the boat yard that did the install and the constant gamboling
caused the data cable to wear through the grommet and cable to the
radiomen at the mast. They are working on a way to repair and fix the
problem, thought I would pass along the info for anyone else who is
considering or has a gimbaled radar. Now wouldn't that have sucked to
be up in the San Juans and to find out the radar didn't work.
arrrrrr....BOAT = Break Out Another Thousand.
