Thanks Steve. I was wondering because after I removed my water heater the engine temp went down at 140-150. Thanks

Kerry, it was and is plumbed off of the exchanger. If so is it connected off of the heat exchanger or in some other manner? I ask because there seems to be a correlation between if the water heater is attached and engine temperature. And again how the water heater is configured and engine temperature. Went for a sail last Saturday. Motored out to Point Loma at 2500 rpm which took about 40 minutes. Temperature stayed between 165-175. With the old exchanger it would have been close to 200. One suggestion I have when swapping out the exchanger to make it easier: Attach all the NEW hoses to the heat exchanger before you install it. Leave at least an extra foot on each hose just to make sure they will reach as the new exchanger is longer and the distances will not be the same as with the old exchanger. That way you can do 4 attachments while sitting in the cockpit sipping a beer and then have only two fittings and clampings to accomplish squeezed in the lazarette and two on the forward end of the engine. Including three trips to San Diego Marine Exchange for hoses I spent a total of 5 hours on the project. I just want to make sure I'm understanding you. Your traveler is forward of the hatch opening, correct? That would solve my dodger problem, but I'm concerned about the loss of leverage having the sheet so far forward on the boom, or the leverage the sail/boom would have on the anchor points. You've had no problems? Thanks! > I replaced my stock traveler with a Gerhaurer. I placed it in the same > place as the old one. It is just forward of the hatch.
