[C38] Main Haylard Rope Clutch Question

Good Day All,

 

The outer cover of our main halyard parted last weekend near the rope clutch and given it's age I am going to replace the main halyard.  I'd like to replace with a 7/16" Stay Set X halyard as I believe the masthead sheeve will accommodate it, but was wondering about the current rope clutch at the halyard winch.  I believe the current halyard is ½" double braid and was wondering if anyone has experience with 7/16" line in that clutch?  It will save considerable time and effort if I can do a simple replacement.  Thanks!
