[C38] Thanks to all who responded to "difficulty starting"

As it turns out my difficulty stemmed from a fuel filter that didn't seal. 
A prior diesel mechanic had "fixed" my poor starting problem.  He 
unnecessarily replaced the fuel pump.  The fuel filter he installed was the 
correct model but for some reason the fuel poured out the junction between 
the filter and the housing that holds it to the engine.
The new mechanic is supposed to replace the filter tomorrow.
He also suggests I have him remove the rust from the engine and paint it.
How do you skippers feel about rust on a Universal 3 cylinder engine?
