Larry, 
 
I'm told that the success of your rebedding depends a great deal on having adequate clearance around both sides of the chain plate for the sealant.  I dont remember if the recommendation was for 1/4 or 1/2 inch.  If your boat is like mine, one side is fine and the other tight. Next time around Im going to dremmel out the gap.  Maybe then I can stop using silicone topside to stop the leaking on newly rebed chain plates.
