[C38] 3M 5300 or Silicon? Or???

I used a tackle to warp the chain plate over to get to the narrow side.
I start by cleaning the gap on the wide side, then warp the chain plate
over with the tackle, clean and caulk the wider opening, then release
the tackle, gut out any remaining debree on the wide side, then caulk
it. Worked fine, lasted about 8 years last time, which I suspect is
about the time the caulk began to dry out a bit. I'll get to it this
spring.

I dont remember if the recommendation was for 1/4 or 1/2 inch. If your boat is like mine, one side is fine and the other tight. Next time around Im going to dremmel out the gap. Maybe then I can stop using silicone topside to stop the leaking on newly rebed chain plates.
