[C38] racing crew number on a C38

Hi Max, I agree with Larry. I race almost weekly here in San Diego on
a Serendipity 43 (Houn Dawg) and we have a core group of 8 crew. Think
about the most complicated situation. Upwind mark rounding: 1-Bow,
1-Mast for pole raise and Halyard raise/drop, 1-Pit for Haylards,
tackline, and topping lift, 1 on Foreguy, 1 Spinnaker trim, 1-Main trim,
1-Helm,. That's 7 not including a tactician. That's comfortable. More
is good on a windy day. Less means it can get complicated in the Pit
but on a really light day sometimes the weight savings can make up for
people having to do more. Good Luck! Jay

Max, we have found that 6-8 works best for us on windward/leeward races.
You almost need two on the foredeck, one on the main/traveler and one on
jib trim and of course one on the helm which leaves one on a six man
crew for relief.

Hi guys,

This questions are for all the racers out there:

What's the perfect number of crew on a race around the buoys on a C38???

How many is too much? or what's the minimum needed???

what's the usual for good boat performance?
