Happy Birthday Larry!!

Couldn't thank yo enough for your enthusiasm as commodore, there are
priorities, and of course we are all hopping to hear from you and Hassle on
another Transpac adventure. keeping the C38 heritage alive!! You can't
imagine how much I'll love to be there with Estancia for a C38 Nationals,
but as you all know is a little bit far from my location.
Charles, we are all familiar with your work and is good to hear that you'll
take the baton from Larry. Way to go!!

Max

Larry,

Sorry to hear you had to pass the baton early, but totally understandable
with what your facing. A big Thank you for the time you served. No need to
finish the repairs in time for Transpac on my account, just because
Peregrine is going to be in absolutely amazing shape next year and be the
envy of anyone who sees her doesnt mean you need to set a deadline and
commit to doing Transpac too :) I mean I really understand how someone
might think twice about competing with a boat and crew from the Northwest.
(You motivated yet? I can keep going if not), All kidding aside I hope you
do get her back to race ready and decide to race again next year that would
be alot of fun. Just imagine at the awards cermony for the Aloha class,
Peregrine and Hassle taking first and second respectively Wow...brings a
tear to your eye.

On the note of Nationals next year if they could be timed for sometime prior
to the start of Transpac we would love to enter. I am planning on having
the boat in Long Beach the second or third week of June.

Steve

Hi Larry and all,

It's amazing but I bet all of us on the list are feeling like we have a
beloved relative in rehab with ole' Hassel in the boat hospital. Sounds
like the ticker is OK and the prognosis is good. That's a relief. Are you
going to be around the boatyard, Larry? I'd like to take a look for myself.
Call it a consultation.

And re Nationals: for the record, "Rascal" is (would be) in. Let's try to
get together in 2011. Maybe just a raft up and party in Long Beach if
nobody wants to race.

And finally a question. I think Rascal's holding tank must go. But how?
Someone I think posted about removing the bulkhead panel from the head side
of the settee. What's the trick to take out the whole bulkhead without
damaging the (now) antique, teak panel?

Rick Swensson, Rascal, #182.

Hi all, time has taken the toll on me not to mention the typical boat
problems, fires etc. LOL My time is now limited to rehabbing Hassle, work
and family. Charles Finn has graciously accepted my proposal to be
Commodore of the Catalina 38 Association. Time etc. have limited my ability
to serve as Commodore but I will be in the wings, so to speak, to help with
anything I can.

This list is the greatest thing a Catalina 38 owner can have, the resources
are tremendous. As to the Catalina 38 Nationals, a while back I put out a
request for racers and got virtually no response so there will be no 2010
Nationals, sad but true.

A quick update on Hassle. She's currently in Marina del Rey CA and the
rehab crew is starting today on her. The rehab crew got the engine going
and we motored up yesterday, Sunday, to Marina del Rey from Long Beach CA.
Only have oil pressure on the gauges but the engine ran like a Swiss Watch,
YEA! I was sweating it a bit, didn't want to overheat but we had no
problems at all.

As you probably surmised by now, I bought her back from the insurance
company at salvage. We are rehabbing her and she will be faster, more
efficient and prettier than ever when we get done and we are planning on
doing the Trans Pac in 2012 so watch out Steve, we just may be there. LOL
Enough about me and Hassle, the list has been a little quiet for a few
weeks, what's going on with everyone? Post up some messages, I love reading
about all the members adventures and mis adventures.

Best regards,

Larry Malmberg - Past Commodore
Team Hassle
