practice sailing, we have it "down" pretty good too.  LOL

There might be some benefit while surfing down waves to slow the boat down
so you dont dive the bow into the next wave.   Larry would you like to try
this out during Transpac and author an article for Mainsheet?

We usually just put it into reverse when coming into the slip too fast.
