[C38] The new (old) Mainsheet

Thanks Steve and Joe for filling me in on some background! I will look
into this further and report back to our members regarding how this can
be fixed so it does not happen again. I personally enjoy Mainsheet,
pretty much looking at it from cover to cover. I think success for us
would be a procedure on their side that is more open and reliable. I
will report back how this works out.

I also think we can do something that can help as well. Right now, we
write articles on a deadline. Namely, in our busy volunteer lives, we
see the "due date" for submission is near and then begin writing!
Wouldn't it be better if we had a "stable" of articles ready for
Mainsheet? We could then have at least one in the Mainsheet hopper.
I suggest we do this, but it will take help from our members.

I think the most important area for us is the Technical section and I
have heard comments that our area has had some of the best articles over
the years! But as Tom T. can attest, doing this alone is daunting and
we cannot expect Steve Smolinske to write all of this for us. That is
why we are asking Max to write up his cabin door modification. And, I
am sure Steve will be asking others for input such as Larry M. writing
up how to come back from a fire. Please, please do everything you can
to help out on the Technical side! By the way, we have some
professional writers in the group and they are happy to do some editing!

I am responsible for the Officers area of Mainsheet and I will be
seeking input from our members in that area. News of events, races,
cruising, etc. from our membership can make this area both enlightening
and entertaining. Please let me know what is going on in your world and
I will be happy to put it together.

Thanks,
Chuck Finn
