[C38] new shaft

Really? Is that correct? I always thought the locker cutout was the
"T" shaped cut out on the inner side of the port sail locker to gain
access to the engine, steering assembly, etc. My understanding is that
it was a stock cut on later boats and an owner modification of earlier
boats. Cutting the locker floor above the bunk seems a bit dodgy from
an aesthetic viewpoint, but if form follows function then it does allow
access to the pilot berth area.

Thanks!.............Jay

Subject: [C38] new shaft

I have read in a few list serve post that a new shaft can be installed
without dropping the rudder. Any tips on how to make it easier? Putting
one in next week. Also I think I get the dumb award. When I asked about
cutting out the locker floor, I finally figured out it is the other
starboard side over the bunk.
Duh!
