[C38] Holding Tank?

I replaced my holding tank with the Ronco tank and it was identical to the
original.

My tank failed because the tank is only supported over the curved hull by
the ends and heavy pounding in a rough seas hammered a crack in mine.

After I ground out the Fiberglas and wood holding the old tank in, I
fabricated an aluminum frame to hold the new tank. The corners of the
aluminum frame had bolts so if I ever wanted to remove the tank again, it
would be possible without having to grind out the glass and wood like the
factory used.

I wrapped the entire new tank in a very thin disposable paint tarp. I
installed the new tank and then foamed in under the tank between the hull
and new tank so the new tank is now supported by the expanded foam.

I used a few feet of ice maker hose connected to a can of Great Stuff for
the foam. I inserted the hose under the new tank as far as the forward
bottom edge of the holding tank and slowly shot foam as I retracted the
hose.

One can did the job very well. The paint tarp kept the foam from
permanently sticking to the holding tank and by pulling the small
application hose as I sprayed the foam I left just enough Great Stuff to
expand along the center of the holding tank without allowing too much foam
to lift the tank and distort the bottom of it.

Great Stuff expands quite a bit so be careful you don't inject too much
foam. It is far better to have too little foam than too much. Also, wear
disposable gloves. Nothing known to man will remove that foam if it gets
on your hands, it will have to wear off.

Good luck,
Tom Troncalli

(http://www.ronco-plastics.com/) and they still have the water tank listed
in their catalog.
