We mounted our Garmin on the pedestal loop using a quick release rail mount. One thumb screw and it can quickly be removed. All we needed was to make an adapter plate to mount the Garmin mount to the bolt pattern of the quick release mount.

We also use these same type of mounts to mount one of our solar panels which allows us to easily tilt to the best position to track the sun. We have had these mounts for a long time but we purchased them from West Marine.

Yes, I have a Garmin 4208 and mounted it on the standard Edson pedestal. First I attached a piece of wood to the pedestal at the top, using standard clamps such as are used for lifeslings, mom modules etc., then I bolted a standard mount (can’t remember the name of the manufacturer right now) with two universal joints to the piece of wood. No it does not block the view forward at all. I’ll send a picture, but it will be a couple of weeks till I get back up to the boat.

Does anyone have their radar screen or chart plotter mounted at their Edson pedestal? If so, what did you use for the mount? Does it get in the way of getting to or from the wheel? Does it block your view forward at all? Photos would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
