Indeed!  VERY well built boats.  

I just noticed an error in my email.  We were abeam of Cape Mendocino at 0515 hrs.  Tough 12 hours.

  Every so often you read a post on another forum concerning the seaworthinessof our boats or a question to their offshore capability.  We all know how stout they are and how they perform,  Below is an email thread with the delivery Captain bringing Peregrine home.  They had one of those nights you dream about,  You gotta love our boats!!!

  Freaking incredible!    This boat rocks in a bog sea way!  So, I found out at 2400 hours that the cockpit drains, don't drain so well going over big swells.. Had to use the bail bucket in the galley.  
  Was a bit weird at first to see that much water in the back of the cockpit.  Hadn't noticed it with everything going on.. More later!

    Isnt she great?  she just keeps plodding along, no never mind to the sea or wind.   If you were using the steer pilot I bet that was welcomed during the evening

    Thought I would write down some of the events of last night.   After a tough night at Pt Arena on Monday we found ourselves in a great bee line course to Punta Gorda in 5-10 kts of wind out of the WNW.  
    Sea and wind conditions looked great all day and the forecast was for much of the same into the night. Cry for happy!  Gorda had other ideas. 
    Punta Gorda lies 13 miles to the south of Cape Mendocino and she would have an unfriendly welcome waiting for us beginning at 1700 hrs on Tuesday. 
    We started to notice what looked like sea smoke on the horizon,  a low layer of water vapor whipped up by big winds and seas, but later realized it was a fog bank which was being held 
    offshore by the winds we had ahead of us.  By 1900 hrs we were in 18-25 kts of wind and 6-8 foot seas coming from too many direction.  Felt like we were in a caldron of big seas.
    By 2100 hrs we had 8-10 ft seas and gusts up to 40 kts.  
    Oh, and that fog bank we saw, rolled in on top of us and that was too freaky! Huge seas you couldn't see,  thick dark mist and pitch black night!  Taking lots of blue water over the boat.
    The wind direction was forcing us to tack around these two huge points of land. No other choice.  
    We knew we had to round a 5 mile buoy off of Mendocino ( inside of the buoy is strictly for local knowledge as there are many obstructions), so we tacked out a bit farther then came around to lay the mark.
    We couldn't head back and were hoping that this was a local condition which often greets sailors when the land mass heats up.. Hoped.. but in the back of your mind you are  never sure.  
    Kept hearing the words of Jim Wulff, (our good friend from Santa Barbara and an expert on this coast), in the back of my mind..."Jeff, ya just gotta punch through it!"
    It was a real slug fest!  Sustained 32-37 kts with big, angry, confused seas, and one extremely tough boat, with 3  fairly  concerned sailors aboard.. 
    Over the years I have had my share of very major Point rounding's especially on the Baja coast heading north.  
    NEVER like this.  Never. Total black out thick with spray!
    By 0115 hrs we were finally abeam of the Cape Mendocino buoy with 18-22 kts,  still thick fog and heading back on course.
    Things subsided about 0500 hours to 8-12 knots, but the fog remained.

    Tried to make Crescent City but they have no slips due to the Tsunami damage and their work dock is full with their own fishing boats.  
    So, we are on to Brookings, Oregon about 16 miles to the north. My first time in there.  I called and they have slips or at least a guest dock.  Should be in before dark, perhaps 5 pm.
    Yeah!!!!  Need rest and more rest.  ALL of us!

    29 miles to go.. 1200 hrs, Wednesday.
