Very sorry to hear that David, I'm sure the other losses the company is
experiencing from Irene doesn't help your claim.  One thing you might try is
to have the adjuster give you the salvage value for the boat on top of their
payout, that way you might have a chance to get things going again.
i did this once with a car, they said it was totaled but when he looked at
the condition I kept it in he said it was "one of those times when the
numbers didn't fit the situation and that depreciation isn't always the best
way to reach a solution".  The values are higher in your case, but it would
be worth a shot...worst they can do is say no.  I'd recommend doing whatever
you can to spruce the boat up before he sees it, if that's still an option.
