[C38] stuffing box

Patrick, I sent the listserve my directions for tightening the stuffing box but so far it hasn't showed up. Maybe because I clicked on Reply All when I should have just clicked Reply. 

I cc'd it to myself so I will forward it to the listserve and see if it shows up. 

In my message I forgot to tell you to "tighten the locknut after you are satisfied with the little drip".

Sorry I missed you.  I tried tightening it with a pipe wrench...it is rusted.  Now the transmission doesn't work. 
  
I wonder if I could have wrecked the transmission by torqueing it to much.  It won't go in reverse and doesn't stay in forward.

Patrick: I will be at Emery Cove late PM today and can show you how to tighten the nut on your stuffing box. You may have to replace the packing, which is a bigger job. Try tightening the nut first.
