[C38] Corrosion

Steve,
You clearly have some current flowing through your toe rail! I have
wondered in the past about the issue of aluminum toe rails secured with
stainless bolts. But since everyone seems to do this.
If I had to guess, I would say look to your mast wiring. Don't know if
you have grounded your mast to your keel as part of a lighting
protection system, but this too could be part of the puzzle. With the
radios, radar, lights, etc. making the trip up the mast and the problems
many of us had had with the conduit failing (I replaced mine five years
ago), it seems this would be the likely place to begin.

Also, have you looked at your zincs lately? Some friends of mine had a
diver clean their bottom last summer and discovered one of the zincs
totally gone and the other ready to crumble. They are now throwing a
third sacrificial zinc attached to their toe rail and rigging over the
side whenever they are on a dock, which seems to have solved their problem.

Hopefully, Tom T. is going to weigh in on this??? Tom? You out there?
