I use a "5 part" same as the old vang setup sending someone aloft the mast. You can pull your self up very easy , well once I hit 60 it became a little more difficult.
On another note I have one of the older aluminum two and a half pound propane cylinders, it needs to be re-valved , the techie in my area says he cannot get the parts ....do I buy a new fiberglass or can I get parts in the U.S.

I use to have 3 Lewmar 30s on the mast two on starboard, one on Port, have since moved two of them to the deck and replaced the other on starboard with a lewmar 30st for the main. If sending someone aloft don’t use a mast mounted winch, safer to lead it back to the cockpit. You only have five screws holding the winch to the mast, and the thickness of the mast does not allow enough bite of threads to safely send someone up.

Anyone have a selftalier on the mast / main halyard? What size?

I want to swap out the original(?) lewmar 16 two speed on the mast (main halyard) for a self tailer but I see the new 16st are only 1 speed.... Do I care about losing that 2nd gear... do I go up to a 30?

Hi Mark. I've run my main halyard back to the cockpit and use a two speed
Lew 30ST. I use the original (a single speed Lew 30) for the second jib
halyard. 16 seems a little light.
