[C38] Masthead Halyard Sheaves

Mark,

I just changed out my halyards from ½ Spectra XLS to 7/16 warpspeed, with the ½ line I noticed that on one of the jib halyards we were getting chafe about a 9" down from the knot, only on starboard but not on port, (starboard used more than port and was always the halyard when we used the furler)I believe I have the wire sheaves, We pulled the mast in 2008 and replaced everything so I don't believe there is anything causing wear inside, however I didn't do the work and can't be sure. never could determine for sure if it was the sheave or something inside the mast. Inspection of the sheave never turned up anything. Could have been the oversized line but again not sure.

I'm switching to rope halyards from the wire/rope ones I have right now. For anyone out there who has already done this...did you have to switch out the sheaves at the masthead? Or are the original sheaves rope compatible?
