Brake pads are pretty easy to replace, but if you don't miss it, why
bother.

Hello Everyone,
I'm replacing the engine control cables in the steering pedestal and
while I'm in there planning to lubricate whatever I can find. I've got
the Edson instruction for how to loosen the steering cable at the
quadrant in order to slide the chain out of the way in the pedestal.
Just wondering if anyone has any further advice, and if I should plan on
replacing the needle bearings on the steering shaft, or if just greasing
them is enough. I haven't noticed any problem with the wheel. Also
wondering if it's worth replacing the brake shoes on the manual brake
for the steering shaft. Mostly, I let the autopilot dampen the steering
and haven't missed the break much, even though it's been ineffective for
years.

Thanks!
