This is the one I used. I got the L shaped evaporator, which I installed in aft out board corner of the ice box, That way the cold air flows down into the deeper inboard section. I found drilling a few holes in the plastic section seperator (if you have one) made a huge difference to the efficiency as did a wooden damage control bung inserted in the drain hole!!

I also beefed up the insulation, which on my old boat was somewhat lacking when I bought her.

It will make ice and freeze steak (or anything else next the evaporation plate. Another way of beefing up the refrigeration it provides on very hot days, is I place some partially full water bottles next the plate, which freeze and form a permanent ice block which enhances the refrigeration throughout.

I am a complete technophobe, but it was really easy and straightforward to do. If you can drill a hole and push in a plug you can do it.... much easier than servicing the head.

Good Luck

Mark

I used the Norcold kit. Was very easy and straightforward to install. Can run off shore power or battery. Although not rated as an icemaker, will make ice if ice cube trays placed next to the cold plate. I recall it was very inexpensive. I think I got it from Defender.com.

Good luck.

Hi,
After 20 years my factory installed refrigerator has failed. I am looking for another like it - running from dock power only. Defender has an Isotherm Compact unit for about $750. Any thoughts? What is the hot item in this area? Joe /Macavity
