[C38] Quarter berth knee knocker

Has anyone cut out the knee knocker in the quarter berth. I think I would
like to cut it out and install a cooler that could be used for storage ,
drinks whatever but removed at night and left in cockpit. Would also create
a lot more room to work on engine. Thoughts?
