Bob,
Thank you!  I told Steve last week we should look to our SF crew and he agreed.  Steve has done a wonderful job of not only keeping our accounts but preserving the reputation and name of our association.  I leave it to Steve to officially pass the torch, but let me offer my happy endorsement of you as our next Treasurer!

Hi Steve

Don’t know if you have filled the treasurer position yet. I participated in two of the SF Nationals (missed the last one) and had a great time with the help of Charles and Anders. Would be pleased to give something back to this great organization if you still need someone to take over the treasurer role.

Regards,

Bob Kirby

All, I have been the Cat 38 Treasurer for 10 plus years and it is time for me to hand over all the fun. A bit of history. When I first joined the Cat 38 Association, it was run by one individual- he was secretary/ treasurer and commodore. After paying dues for two years, I learned I was suppose to have received the MAINSHEET magazine quarterly. As I remember it was 2002, I signed up to do my first Nationals and we had a new Commodore, Phil Gay, who flew in from the Northwest to meet with the Southern California racers. I badly needed crew, he helped as much as he could, with a very inexperienced crew- the spinnakers sets and take-downs were horrible. We had fun, took last place in the five races, and I came home with a new job- Cat 38 Treasurer. Next Phil found another volunteer- Charles Finn, who formed and developed our great web site, which has been improved on by his son, Anders.
The job:
1. Maintain an established membership spread sheet- of who has paid for the year and contact data
2. Maintain a spreadsheet of credit/debit of who paid and what checks were written.
3. Oversee the bank account.
The membership list is sent quarterly to the MAINSHEET staff so the members who are "paid up" are sent their magazine. Then a check is sent out to pay for this service.
A check is also out annually to the company who provides the Cat 38 web server.
There also special events that checks are written to cover, ie. nationals, get-togethers.

Now I'm asking for new blood to keep improvement going! Interested parties please contact me via the Cat 38 web, or send an email to ssorton at hotmail.com or call 760-518-9386.
A pleasure to have served, Steve
