Thanks Steve.  I have one of those but for some reason i havent tried it.  So your suggestion is right on point.  But lets say its accurate, any other suggestions?

Before tearing into it check the calibration of your rpm gauge against the engine Rpms you can pick up a unit at freight harbor that is easy to use and inexpensive.  Mine currently reads all over the place. So I go by sound and feel.
