What Max said makes sense it is a 2800 max rpm engine, under no load, and
if you are now getting 2500 max under load, youre probably good, (I cruise
about 2200).   Are you noticing any problems? Does it still push you
through the water at the same speed?

Thanks Steve.  I have one of those but for some reason i havent tried it.
So your suggestion is right on point.  But lets say its accurate, any other

Before tearing into it check the calibration of your rpm gauge against the
engine Rpms you can pick up a unit at freight harbor that is easy to use
and inexpensive.  Mine currently reads all over the place. So I go by sound
and feel.
