Mighty Quinn just went through an intense storm with 55+ knots of wind rain hale on a Lee shore.  Delta anchor dragged all over and even at full power I could not hold the nose into the wind.Lots of damage, it was just short of catastrophic as I hung on for almost an hour. This is not the first time the 5424 has left me exposed, but if I can make it through till fall it will be the last!  I have already switched anchors to a rocna Vulcan which is very impressive and I will report more as I put it through various holding grounds.I will be going with a new motor as well and am thinking of of the Volo 30 horse.
I would love to hear your thoughts.

What Max said makes sense it is a 2800 max rpm engine, under no load, and if you are now getting 2500 max under load, youre probably good, (I cruise about 2200).
Are you noticing any problems? Does it still push you through the water at the same speed?

Before tearing into it check the calibration of your rpm gauge against the engine Rpms you can pick up a unit at freight harbor that is easy to use and inexpensive.  Mine currently reads all over the place. So I go by sound and feel.
