[C38] Canvas covering of wood brightwork

Hi all.
Several boats docked near me have these snap-on/snap-off canvas covers on
their boats' varnished wood (grabrail, cockpit door, traveler etc.). I was
wondering if this is pure DIY or there's a service out there that makes
this easier. What have some of you done?
