[C38] Listserve Digest, Vol 15, Issue 11

Welcome Richard,
I also recommend hard wired light fixtures. I hate looking after batteries, and keep replacing them. Specially here in Costa Rica, where weather is warm and humid. Batteries won’t last that long, so before you notice, they’ll spill acid, and kill the lights.

My boat has no overhead lighting, so I need light with a shade, Just like the originals.
I have installed the Aqua Signal LED “fluorescent shape” lights on the head, and galley. They are awesome, and the current draw is minimal.

But for bulkhead light, Imitra makes very nice LED ligh fixtures, but they are very expensive, so I’m planning to install something like this:

I would recommend the hard wired lights with accessible switches that you can easily feel in the dark. My boat has the slim bar type that take up minimal space and you can barely see if the light is not on. I think it was a good install by the prior owner.
