If you can find out what brand of varnish it is e-mail the manufacture and check with them. If you don't know the brand maybe you can check with more than one manufacture for advice.

Subject: [C38] Varnish Removal

I have removed the grab rails from the deck to rebed and varnish, I have been trying to clean up the deck the area around the bases of the rails where over the years someone has not done such a good job of keeping varnish off the deck. Does anyone know of a product or easy way to remove the old varnish? Thanks.
