[C38] Cat 38 dues

This could be interesting. First let me say that I think we should throw a
few ideas out there and see what gets the most traction. What I would like
to see is that we do something to benefit the membership and/or the fleet in
general.

That said, Chuck started the synapses firing and, given the lead time we
have, it seems that we would need several boats to participate to make a
statement...and that would be the fleet benefit. In order to attract
"several" boats perhaps the Association could contribute to dock/mooring
fees, or something. And to benefit the membership, perhaps our local
members and/or the visiting yachts, could put up some of us [who are much
further away] for a night or two...who would ideally also be crewing in
whatever event we come up with. This needs to be thought out a bit more,
but generally it seems to be a win-win: boats present get a break on fees,
members get a break on hotel costs, and with a few carefully places press
releases the fleet gets recognition.

While its on the other end of the spectrum, we used to do this kind of thing
campaigning Thistles around the mid-west. In order for clubs to get good
turnout for their races, local members would have visitors stay the night,
or they'd arrange babysitting, or things to do for spouses, etc, etc. It
was a great way to make the sport affordable and to make some new friends.

PS: IF we were to pull this off...we would need SOME of our "surplus" to go
into a party....um, er...Association Meeting, yeah, that's it....meeting!
