[C38] Watermakers

Craig, we installed a Katadyn 40E in the V Berth on top of the water tank,
added a couple of 1X4's to hold it in place, we had a thru hull installed in
09 for it. We plumbed it into the head sink with an extra faucet and a
valve to send water back into the water tank. This unit only makes about a
gallon an hour but uses only 4 amps. It was an easy install, follow all of
the directions and do not take any shortcuts. The 80E makes more water and
uses more power. We didn't have any problems with it as long as we followed
proper procedures with it.

Has anyone ever installed a watermaker on their C-38. If so, I would like to
know what type and where they installed it. As we plan on taking off for
blue waters and white sand next spring, any help would be appreciated!

Thanks

Was this link on the list a couple of days ago? Maybe I found it somewhere
else, I don't remember. Anyway, here's a great site that shows the Yankee
38 rudder clearly.

I've never seen a Yankee 38, but I read that one of the modifications that
Frank Butler did to the 38 was replacing the skeg mounted rudder for a spade
rudder. Also said that the mast was replaced for a taller one with small
boom, but still, hull #1 came with the Yankee mast... So, who knows...
Could there be a 38 with skeg rudder?? We have noticed many differences
between early and later models during this year, so who knows... Butler,
perhaps??
