[C38] top down furler for asym?

Don,
We have an A2, A3 and A4 for the A2 and A4 as well as our symmetrical
chutes we do as Joe described with banding the chutes, we use a small
plastic bucket that we cut out the bottom. For the A3 I have an ATN
sock and love it, that chute was purchased with cruising with my wife
in mind (although we have used her chute quite often racing), The ATN
sock has never given us any problems and I can even use it single
handed. In a hurry to get it down just let the sheet go and pull the
sock down, drop the halyard and the chute is down on the deck.

Don,
We quit using the sock with the assy because we had more problems
with the sock than the chute. We use a cone and pack the chute with
elastic bands every 6 to 8 feet. To drop we use a windward drop. You
essentially, raise the genoa first, then totally blow the chute and pull
it to weather so that you are dropping it on the inside of the genoa.
Then the sewer person pulls it down the forward hatch. Sailing world
covered this awhile back.
We have a masthead chute and genoa. We learned the hard way - NEVER
furl the genoa with a chute up or spin halyard loose. The furler will
eat the chute and it will not come down. We learned this in a race one
day. The fleet went toward Santa Barbara while we sailed down the ocean
towards Ventura. We drop our furling sail on chute sets. Joe

Dear C38ers
It appears to me that a top down furler would make use of the asym
much easier than the sock.
Who has some knowledge of these things?
the following two sites have some interesting videos.
