[C38] The powerful 5424

Hi Chuck, if you're planning to install a new engine, remember that you can go as high as a 40hp Yanmar, which is the same size as the 5424, but lighter, or go with the 35hp Universal M35B. This is a four cylinder engine, but is way smaller and around 80lbs  lighter than the 5424.  There is also a 35hp Beta Marine engine that uses the same Kubota engine as the Universal.  The main difference is that comes with the transmission that you already have on your boat, which is much better than the Hurth(now ZF). 
I'll stay away from those Volvos.  The ones that I have seen here, have experienced some reliability problems, and parts are very expensive.
